Powdered Chai

Chai lattes are one of my favorite drinks of all time. The only problem is finding the perfect recipe. Authentic chai takes a lot of work and I enjoy most powders but they're missing the "spice" I love in real chai. There are powders that have that extra spice element but they can get speedy. So, my solution was to come up with my own chai powder recipe!

To make this all you have to do is mix together a bunch of powders and enjoy. The main ingredients are milk powder, powdered vanilla creamer, powdered tea or iced tea powder, and powdered sugar. Along with those, I add in black pepper, ginger, cinnamon, anise, cloves, cardamom, and nutmeg. You can adjust these spices depending on how "spicy" you like your chai. If you want you can even add extra powdered vanilla creamer for more of a sweet vanilla flavor. To make a chai latte I mix about two tablespoons of my powder into 12-16 ounces of hot water or milk and enjoy! I like to use a frother to really make sure everything mixes together and to create a bit of foam on top but a regular spoon works great if you don't have one. You can also make this iced by mixing two tablespoons of the powder into 12-16 ounces of room temperature milk or water (not cold or it might not mix very well) and then topping it off with ice. Sometimes if I also need a bit of a caffeine boost I also will add a shot of espresso to create a "dirty chai".
